 Leesa Mackintosh BSc (Hons) MNIMH gives us some herbal tips to kick-start the New Year. No excuses anyone!

The 1st of January is a time when we reflect and decide what New Year’s resolution we are goingto make to enhance our life. To aid you in your endeavours a herbal medicine perspective would be to make the physical, emotional and spiritual part of you as strong as possible in order for youto have the strength to carry out and continue your resolution.

Many people decide to:
• Give up smoking
• Lose weight
• Exercise more


They want to take care of their health and well being.
They are many wonderful herbs that can assist in this process but to start you off on your regimebefore seeing a qualified medical herbalist you could:


• Drink a mug of hot water with a slice of lemon in the morning to cleanse the system
• Drink water, for every cup of coffee or tea you drink also drink a glass of water
• Increase the amount of fruit and vegetables you eat, winter is a lovely time of year to make
and eat homemade soup with lots of root vegetables
• Be kind to yourself, make small steps first, after the Christmas festivities we need to takethings a little gentler as changing habits we have had for years takes time
