With issue four of The Witch Hiker's Guide being distributed up and down the country, we've been out again on the road delivering magazines here there and everywhere.

With out trusty Volvo Stig fuelled and watered, Mr Witchhiker heads out on the road to deliver issue 4 of The WHG.
First port of call is Tir na nOg in Drymen.

It's early on Sunday morning and the mists have yet to clear, but even at 10am there's hustle and bustle at Tir na nOg, and a lot of things being planned for Spring and early Summer (the calendar is filling up).

After stop number 1, it's off along the back roads to the Kingdom of Fife. However, on the brief motorway section before the turn off for St Andrews, Stig is attacked by a large bird of prey which came looming out of the herdgerow. With a loud thunk, the bird of prey looks dazed, but as far as I could tell, manages to fly back to the sanctuary of the hedges. I just hope the bird is okay...(and wasn't delivering mail for anyone...)

So I pull up at Pillars of Hercules and inspect the damage to the car. Luckily there are only a couple of scratches, and an out-of-place wing mirror. So, into Pillars for the usual warm welcome from all there. The news from Pillars is that, as well as all the usual organic treats and home-grown produce, they are about to launch their very own children's menu. We look forward to our next visit, and are sure that Baby Witch Hiker will be looking forward to tramping through the grounds in Spring too.

Thereafter, I head to Jamesfield Farm which is quite a place, and well worth a visit with their own on-site butcher, baker and homegrown/reared produce, there really are some fantastic looking meats, veggies, pickles, preserves and pestos (which was deliciously green) available. And what's more, the two chefs are putting together a series of cooking events and classes to highlight local, slow and organic produce.

Onwards, and with a lighter Stig still bearing some battle scars we hit Psyche's Garden in St Andrews. This time it's John Senior who's in the shop. Surrounded by the usual extensive range of crystals, books and CDs, I was saddended to see some of the 6ft tall geodes had finally been shipped off to their new homes. I wonder if they'll get more in?

Heading back towards the Forth Road Bridge, past the Secret Bunker (signposted Secret Bunker), I find a quiet shortcut to take me out to Largo and Leven. Aside from the industry and linoleum factories that have been such a huge part of the past of Fife, it's quite refreshing to see so much countryside, farmland, and people enjoying the the greenery. I digress...

So, turning left at the Forth Bridges, I head to Aberdour home of Chris the Green Witch . It's a very interesting shop, with The Green Witch's own hand-made candles, incenses and potions, as well as hand-picked goodies covering magic, herbalism and all manner of other interesting items.

After a quick stop, it's back to Glasvegas with one very tired Mr Witch Hiker, and one slightly chafed Stig. A good day out, all in all, interspersed with some beautiful scenery and some nice, friendly folks along the way.
