What happens when you cross The Hitch Hiker’s Guide to the Galaxy with Terry Pratchett? You get Afterlives, is what. Afterlives is the brainchild of Alan Macdonald, one time lead singer of 99 Confessions, as well as part-time author, playwrite and screenwriter.

Afterlives is a 6-part audio drama written specifically for podcast. The project was started as a means of improving Alan’s writing and learning exactly what it takes to produce a serial. A year in the making, it is now live on the Net.

The story follows Matthew, a young man who is very surprised to discover that he is dead. With no memory of how he passed on and in the company of several other dead souls, he is on-the-run from a mysterious group who are running the afterlives as a labour camp, working towards some secret agenda.

He is not sure how much he can trust his companions, though, since it is clear they all have secrets, or why there is a girl in his head, telling him they are running out of time ...the most inconsequential questions...”

The first three episodes are available for download from www.afterlives.net . There’s also a discussion forum and other bits and bobs.
